They listened to a band of popular Maltese artists who sang country and gospel throughout the service.

Vince passed away on Thursday at the age of 59. He was regarded as being one of the most knowledgeable and experienced disc jockeys in the Maltese Islands, especially when it came to country music and oldies.

The ‘cowboy’, as many fondly knew him, had been ill for the past year but had managed to keep going. He was still presenting his weekly television and radio shows on Super One until a few days ago.

Vince Laus started as a disc jockey with the Voice of Friendship in 1979 and then went on Labour’s radio station as soon as it opened in 1991.

Thousands used to follow Vince’s ‘Super Country’ every Saturday between 10pm and midnight. This programme was one of the favourites of Super One Radio’s listeners. Thousands more followed him every Sunday afternoon for the past decade on the same wavelength.
