With MEPA’s attitude it will take another 25 years when another golf course will see the light of day, FATTA said in a statement.

As the minister rightly stated, the conference and incentive industry is crying out for this sort of development in our country.

Stating that we do not need this type of

development is, in our opinion, not only digging our heads in the sand but also and even more importantly letting other competitor countries that have started after us in this type of sector roll all over us and leave us behind, FATTA said.

Golf is definitely a niche market. We are missing out on big opportunities, which could only enrich and can only be the much-needed boost to our product.

A visit to Scotland will give one an idea of the type of clientele this country attracts, which we as a resort can only keep dreaming about.

Tunisia and Cyprus have long surpassed us on this issue and are already reaping the benefits of this added bonus to their product, this while for the last 10/15 years we have been making impact assessment studies without any concrete decision being taken.
