Malta Independent Friday, 17 September 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

An introductory meeting will be launched today at 7.30pm at the Millennium chapel in Paceville. At this meeting, the coordinator of the group will explain its scope and perspectives.

The LGBT Catholic Group, which is encouraged and supported by the Malta Gay Rights Movement, will be meeting twice a month in the evening as from October. The group will be run by gay people who are practising Catholics.

“The aim of the group will be to enable individuals to deepen their spiritual life through self-acceptance and self-love,” said MGRM coordinator Sandro Mangion. “This can be achieved through prayer and spiritual exercises.”

Further information is available by calling 9988-6217.

In the meantime, the Malta Gay Rights Movement is carrying out ongoing support work through its National Gay Helpline: 2143-0006. The line is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, between 6pm and 9pm.
