The ambassador of Germany to Malta, Georg Merten, praised Mrs Kidder for her outstanding achievements.

Mrs Kidder had already started to organise student exchanges between South Africa and Europe in 1959, when she was residing and working in Pretoria, South Africa. Later on she moved to Oslo, Norway and years later to Düsseldorf, Germany and she always took up a wide range of cultural and educational activities promoting relations between peoples and countries.

When living and working in Düsseldorf, Mrs Kidder started to build bridges between Malta and Germany especially in the cultural field by helping to organise exhibitions of Maltese artists in Germany. Till today she is active in this field.

Mrs Kidder is a prominent member within the German-Maltese Society founded in Adenau, Germany, in 1991 serving as vice-president of this society and she is also an active member of the German-Maltese Circle in Valletta. Both associations take advantage of Mrs Kidder’s literary skills for their publications.

Some years ago, Mrs Kidder settled down in Malta where she lives in Sliema. In recent years she also became a guest lecturer at the University of Malta where she teaches the German language to young students of German.

During the ceremony, which took place at the German ambassador’s residence in Lija, family members, friends and students of Mrs Kidder were present to

congratulate her on the festive occasion.

The music group “Walter Micallef and friends” provided a musical framework to the event, performing a selection of original Maltese songs from the group’s repertoire.
