During a programme on Super One Radio

yesterday, Dr Sant spoke of the initiatives his party would take to get Malta back on its feet if it were in government.

“The MLP will have a clear plan for employment generation to attract investment,” he said. The party aims at reviving industry and tourism and will make education and environment a priority.

Dr Sant said the MLP would undo the political discrimination brought about by the Nationalist Party. A few weeks ago, the MLP published its

proposals for economic and social regeneration. The opposition leader said this plan has a few, achievable goals.

The opposition leader also mentioned the MLP position paper on agriculture and said work is being done to draw up a position paper on dockyard workers. He said the MLP is also working on its policies on the elderly.

From now on, the MLP will try to downplay the disadvantage of EU membership and highlight the good aspects instead. The opposition will continue meeting families because the party depends solely on the workers.

Finances are needed for the MLP to send its message and therefore, said Dr Sant, the party is organising fund raising activities for those who have some money to spare to make donations towards the Labourite cause.

Dr Sant said Prime Minister Gonzi is leading the country with the same people and therefore he is locked in the past and cannot move forward. The opposition leader noted that although road works were not supposed to be carried out in tourist zones in summer, work was still being done in Sliema and St Julian’s.

The MLP leader said his party will govern the country fairly and will continue to tell the truth.
