The megalithic remains were first recorded by Jean Houel and excavated by Otto Bayer in 1826. The remains were immortalised by Brochtorff in his famous watercolour paintings. The site was located again in the 1960s by Joe Attard Tabone and recently excavated by Drs Stoddart and Malone in the late 1980s and early 90s as part of a joint project between the Museums Department of Malta, and the Universities of Cambridge, Malta and Bristol. Speakers at the seminar will be Drs Stoddart and Malone, Prof. Bonanno, Mr Anthony Pace and Mr Attard Tabone.

The seminar will be officially inaugurated by Minister for Tourism and Culture Francis Zammit Dimech and will be closed by the Minister for Gozo Giovanna Debono.

Registration fee is Lm10 and this includes a field lecture on site at the end of the seminar. Free transport will be provided from Mgarr harbour to Victoria and back, including transfer to Xaghra for the field lecture. Participants are advised to catch the 9am ferry from Cirkewwa to arrive in time for the seminar.
