This event, which has now established its place as one of Malta’s most popular festivals, is being held between 30 September and 3 October. Every year thousands of families flock to the brewery for an evening of fun-driven activities under tents set up for the occasion.

The Oktoberfest festival, which originated in Germany more than 200 years ago, is a massive celebration held in Bavarian style every year in Munich. For the sixth year running, Lowenbrau Malta has re-enacted this festival and has welcomed an average of 40,000 visitors at each year’s event.

One of the main highlights of the festival is of course the Oktoberfest Brew prepared especially for the occasion. This lager is served directly from the Brew House, meaning that it is not kegged or bottled before it reaches the drinker.

This results in a fresher full-

bodied beer, rich in aromas with a balanced composition that makes it a much-awaited favourite with all.

The Oktoberfest mugs, brought over for this event from Germany, are also another landmark of this festival. These authentic stoneware creations can be purchased, filled and re-filled with your favourite brew throughout the event. It is no wonder that over the years the famous Oktoberfest mugs have become a much-demanded collectors’ item.

Entertainment is also guaranteed throughout the four days of the Oktoberfest. Apart from the special beer and the authentic Bavarian atmosphere, the crowds are entertained with a non-stop programme of well-known bands, personalities and Malta’s top singers and performers.

This year, great performances by local celebrities, such as Ira Losco, Fabrizio Faniello, Freddie Portelli, Julie and Ludwig, Hooligan and many more, will take place at the Oktoberfest.

Everyone will be getting involved in beer-drinking, sausage-eating and wood-cutting competitions. Children will have their entertainment in the Power Fruit Planet near the main stage while a huge selection of food stalls will be serving a mouth-watering spread of international food.

Following the huge success of last year’s ‘The Lion’s Den’, a specially-built tent will be hosting the 1565 House of Rock promoted in collaboration with Bay Radio.

This area will cater for the more discerning 18-30s crowd and will be hosted by 89.7 Bay DJs Jonathan Abel and Miss Roberta. Each night, great performances by Beangrowers, Corkscrew, Fakawi, Scar, Hiddensun, Colourblind, and Explicit will rock the crowds present at the Oktoberfest.

Doors open from 6pm until late each night.
