The Nationalist Party said that on the occasion in question, Lawrence Gonzi had said: “I do not care about the moaning of people... I am referring to those people at Super One.”

However, they said that the MLP media had twisted the facts and left out the part about Super One. The PN said that the media bulletin had effectively censored the Prime Minister and also created a lie out of nothing because the editing left out the most crucial part of the sentence.

The PN said that Super One was abusing its power as a medium of communication. PN information director Gordon Pisani said: “Super One is tricking people and misleading them. They took (the PM’s) comment out of context, edited out the piece which was most important and this is flagrant abuse.”

Mr Pisani said this was not the first time that the MLP media has resorted to such tactics. The PN claim that the MLP had, on many occasions, created rumours and edited out crucial bits of speech. “This is confirmed by the amount of libel cases which have been filed against the MLP media over the years,” said Mr Pisani.

The PN said it was evident that Super One’s tactics were to simply trick people and change the true message of what has been said through editing. He appealed to the MLP to broadcast the complaint on its media and to stop showing the clip that the PN believes gave a false impression of what was

really said by the PM.
