The hall is now ready to be used as a venue for press conferences, exhibitions, meetings and cultural activities.

The multi-purpose hall has a capacity for 250 people, two separate conference rooms, a garden, audio visual facilities and all other facilities that become a modern conference centre.

The architecture and style of the Methodist church was adhered to. The first foundation stone was laid in 1881, on the design of architect Mullet Ellis.

In 1975, when the British were leaving Malta in earnest, the church was no longer required for religious services as there were no Methodists left in Malta. In 1975, the Education Ministry of the time took over the building and began to use it as a cultural centre.

Dr Galea said: “The opening of this centre has added to the Ministry’s facilities for organising information meetings and cultural activities.”
