Malta Independent Thursday, 14 October 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 23 years ago

This awareness day aims to highlight the loss the parents endure and the support which is available to them and their families after bereavement.

Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society – SANDS (Malta) – is a support group set up within the Cana Movement. Set up in 1996, it offers support to bereaved parents who loose their babies during pregnancy, childbirth or shortly after birth. SANDS (Malta) is also affiliated with SANDS (UK).

Wanting and Waiting (WAW) is an infertility support group also within the Cana Movement. Set up it 2001 it offers support to couples who are finding difficulties to conceive, supports couples who are undergoing fertility treatment both in Malta and abroad especially in the very delicate moments when such treatment either fails or else results in early miscarriage, and gives support to couples who remain childless. WAW is also a registered member of Infertility Network UK.

The main activity of the day will be held at the Gonzi Hall, Catholic Institute, Floriana tomorrow at 6.30pm. There will be a special Mass of Remembrance and Hope.
