A police statement said that at 3.30am yesterday, two hooded robbers, armed with a pistol, entered the hotel and approached the receptionist, a 48-year-old from Mellieha, demanding money.

The two made off with the cash.

The receptionist was not injured in the robbery.

Magistrate Antonio Vella appointed several experts to help him in drawing up a report.

Investigations are being carried out by Qawra district police.
