Kevin Brincat, 29, from Valletta, was accused of stealing the boy’s mobile phone and with being in possession of a weapon at the time when he committed the crime on 12 October in Valletta.
Magistrate Michael Mallia turned down the request of defence lawyer Anthony Cutajar for his client to be granted bail and remanded Brincat in custody.
Police inspector Angelo Caruana prosecuted.
