Free Upgrade for ADSL Fast Internet users

Malta Independent Sunday, 17 October 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Through this upgrade all users currently connecting with a 128/64kbps ADSL Fast Internet service will be upgraded to 256/256k, meaning a doubling of the speed from the ISP to the customers and a four times increase in speed from the customer’s computer up to the Internet Service Provider. 512/128k customers will be upgraded to a staggering 1Mbps/256k speeds, meaning a doubling of both the downstream and upstream speeds.

Speaking about this upgrade, Godfrey Vella, chief executive officer of DataStream Limited commented: “During these last months we have been actively seeking ways as to how to make Broadband Internet accessible to all and to enhance the benefits of ADSL connectivity. Our introduction of the Breeze pay-per-use ADSL service for users who do not currently use the Internet for enough hours to justify an always-on connection, has been one important step in making Broadband more universally available. This speed upgrade of all always-on users to significantly higher speeds at no additional costs will enable users to gain better access to more sophisticated high bit-rate content.”

This free upgrade will be affected over a short period of time. For further information, existing and new ADSL Fast Internet users are requested to contact their Internet Service Provider or DataStream Ltd.
