In a statement replying to an EPOU press release, the corporation said it is management’s responsibility to run the corporation and that responsibility must never be abdicated. Since April of last year, the corporation had undertaken the entire re-organisation of its structures.

The first step was the establishment of a board of management made of chief officers to ensure the smooth and continuous running of the corporation, even if there are changes in the board of directors.

Once this board was up and running, it proceeded with re-organisation at middle management level – a process which is currently being implemented.

No doubt, engineers have a crucial role in the corporation, Enemalta said. Engineering is the business of engineers and the engineers’ union should indeed be consulted on all engineering matters. However, the EPOU should understand that IT expertise is and should be the business of IT experts and management should be the business of managers.

Enemalta Corporation said it has had a good track record concerning industrial relations with the EPOU since its establishment. There have been several discussions on various topics over the years and Enemalta is pleased to have come to several amicable agreements on issues that have arisen.
