The Government said Wednesday has taken note of the verdict delivered today by the nine jurors in the criminal trial concerning the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

The government said it has always provided the support and resources required for all institutions to fully carry out their functions.

In relation to the same case, a number of people have already been investigated, charged and sentenced to lengthy terms of imprisonment.

The government said it remains committed to ensuring that justice is carried out by the institutions.

At this sensitive moment, the government appealed for prudence in public comments which could do more harm than good.

All institutions will continue to receive the government's full support in their work, it said.

Following the major reforms implemented in recent years, the government "also remains committed to continuing with further reforms aimed at further strengthening the rule of law".
