Men Charged with seriously injuring each other

Christian Cumbo, 21 from Msida and Carmel Sammut, 57 from Birkirkara were accused of seriously injuring each other while next to Mr Sammut’s residence last Monday. They were also accused of overstepping the limits of provocation, breaching the peace, using obscene language in public and blaspheming.

Both men pleaded not guilty to the charges pressed against them. Mr Cumbo also denied breaking into and damaging Mr Sammut’s property.

Presiding magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera granted the men bail against a Lm5,000 personal guarantee. Dr Chris Cardona appeared for Mr Cumbo while Dr Joseph Giglio appeared for Mr Sammut.

Inspector Kevin Farrugia prosecuted.
