The 36-year-old man was driving a motorcycle through Dawret San Pawl, in St Paul’s Bay, at around 12.45pm, when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a rubble wall.

The man was catapulted over the wall into a field. He was rushed to St Luke’s Hospital shortly after the accident and was certified to be in critical condition.

The accident in Floriana occurred shortly before that in St Paul’s Bay, at 11.15am. The woman was driving along National Road when she lost control of the vehicle and swerved to the side of the road, crashing into a tree.

An ambulance and the Civil Protection Department were called to the scene, as the woman had to be helped out of the vehicle. The woman sustained slight injuries and was treated for shock. However, the car, a white Skoda, sustained considerable damage.

Investigations are being carried out by the Mosta and Valletta district police respectively.
