It is understood that a masked and armed man forced his way into the hotel at about 4am yesterday. He demanded that the 22-year-old receptionist hand over the money he had behind the counter.

The receptionist complied with the robber’s demands and handed the money over.

The masked man then escaped. No one was injured during the robbery. Duty magistrate Joe Cassar was informed of the case and appointed a number of experts to help draw up an inquiry report. The Criminal Investigation Department and Sliema police are investigating.
