The government is insensitive to the issue by embarking on a project which will cost the country millions when the current economic situation does not permit it.

The UHM pointed out that through projects like the new hospital, Cirkewwa terminal, and Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools it is evident that the government does not appreciate the value of money it is continually spending. The government has a bad reputation when it comes to these cases and does not control its expenditure. Employees, pensioners and their families question whether the government is wasting the taxpayers’ money through these projects.

It is no longer acceptable that the government embarks on similar projects when the Maltese are making sacrifices because of the country’s precarious financial situation. The UHM pointed out that any government project ends up spending much more than was originally estimated.

It is no longer acceptable that the country continues embarking on similar projects which the Maltese end up compensating through their taxes.
