Dr Deguara said that all those working in the health sector are conscious of the need for renewal, mostly because of the changes that are taking place every day in the medical field. No system is suitable for all countries, and this led the government to carry out studies on what was happening elsewhere and try to adapt changes to the Maltese reality. This has been concluded and the next step is to enter into negotiations with the unions.Dr Deguara said that the best results will be obtained via consultation, not imposition. The Mater Dei Hospital completion will add to the need for all parties to work together so that this opportunity for renewal is not lost.
