60 Second Interview - Stefan Cachia Zammit

Malta Independent Sunday, 31 October 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

He says he has an undercover job in outgoing travel here, but that his real profession is that of top secret agent for the government of Trinidad and Tobago! Hmmm. His favourite colour is purple and he enjoys cooking, swimming, reading, watching movies, and, wait for it, drinking vodka in the bathtub.

On a more serious note, he is currently involved with Teatru Ad Hoc, in the production of Il-Gawwija (The Seagull), by Anton Chekhov, under the direction of Immanuel Mifsud. Performances are being held at St James Cavalier from 12 to 14 November and from 19 to 21 November.

n How old are you? Star sign and date of birth?

I’m meant to be 36 years old, but some days I’m six, and others 80. 9 October so that makes me a Libra.

n Significant other? Children?

I’m single, cannot take myself very seriously and the only kid that currently entertains me is myself.

n What would you like to be doing in 10 years’ time?

Finishing the last chapter of my famous best-selling autobiography.

n What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Enjoying a delicious meal and a good bottle of wine in the company of a very interesting member of the opposite sex (grin).

n What is your favourite occupation?

I would love to be Nicole Kidman’s private chauffeur.

n What is your greatest fear?

Loneliness. And the occasional wirdiena (cockroach).

n What is it that you most value in your friends?

Their undying patience and love to put up with such an erratic, out-of-sorts character as myself.

n How would you like to die?

With a jack-coke in one hand and an ironic smile on my face.

n What is your greatest extravagance?

The luxury of having no one ordering me to clear up my room (……ermm, the whole flat actually!)

n What is your most treasured possession?

Photos of a particularly crazy train ride in Spain with my best friends.

n What is your greatest regret?

I’m too broke to hire a butler and a personal chef.

n Which talent would you most like to have apart from the ones you already have?

Wish I could sing like Bono. Or play bass with some kick-ass rock band.

n What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

The 8 o’clock news. Any channel.

n Where would you like to live?

Remember Mel Gibson’s beach shack in the Lethal Weapon movie? Plus windsurf board and cat.

n What is your most marked characteristic?

Haha! My red hair of course. But lately I’m beginning to think it’s my bad posture.

n Who are your heroes/ heroines in real life?

Mum and Dad.

n What is it that you most dislike?

Arrogance, being misunderstood and losing my specs!! Grrrr!!

n What is your motto?

I don’t believe in them. Just try to do the best I can with my day.
