First he was shown a clip during which a person was kept waiting for 15 minutes when she contacted customer service to complain about a drainage overflow.

Then he faced another clip which showed bad service at the hospital.

This inauspicious beginning visibly angered him and he promised action. More was to come: a woman complained that life in the EU is coming to mean more taxes, high cost of living and an inescapable pressure to work more and more.

By the end of the discussion, Dr Gonzi was to hear that his party’s popularity has slumped in favour of the Labour Party, although his personal rating is better than Dr Sant’s (See page 4 for details)

Dr Gonzi was then praised for MCAST and for banning smoking in public places but he was once again reminded that repeated promises to remove the hospital incinerator have not yet been fulfilled.

He then confirmed that the recent increase in oil prices will lead to increased charges for electricity. Government, he said, is being careful to ensure this leaves the least impact on families. However, he warned, those who waste the most will cary the greatest burden.
