A 19-year-old girl from Tarxien is battling for her life after she was unwittingly involved in a three-way car crash in St Andrew’s Road, Swieqi at 3.15am yesterday.

A police statement said the Peugeot 206 in which the girl was a passenger, being driven by a 19-year-old man from Birkirkara and going in the direction of St Julian’s, was involved in a collision with an Alfa Romeo 155 driven by a 34-year-old man from Swieqi which emerged from Triq il-Bir.

The collision also involved a Fiat Brava that was coming from the opposite direction. This was driven by a young man, aged 28, from Vittoriosa.

Duty magistrate Dr Jacqueline Padovani Grima was informed and appointed a number of experts to help in the investigation.

The accident is being investigated by the St Julian’s district policemen.
