The post of president is held until the next annual general conference.

The Malta Aviation Museum Foundation was accepted as a full member of the council last year at the annual conference hosted by the Italian Airforce Museum at Vigna di Valle and the Ministero dell’Aeronautica in Rome. At this year’s conference it was also agreed that next year’s annual conference be held in Malta.

The European Aviation Preservation Council is formed by high-ranking representatives from major aviation museums in Europe, with representatives from the Royal Airforce Museum, Hendon, The Imperial War Museum, London and Duxford, Croydon Airport Society and the British Aviation Preservation Council from England; Musee de l’Aire et de l’Espace at Le Bourget and Ailes Anciennes Le Bourget from France; and the Italian Airforce Museum, Museo Gianni Caproni, Museo Tridentino di Scienze Naturali, Gruppo Amici Velivoli Storici, Associazione Restauri Aeronautici (AReA) and Jonathan Collection from Italy; The Museo Del Aire at Cuatro Vientos, Madrid from Spain; The Koninklijk Leger Museum, Brussels, the Brussels Air Museum Restoration Society and Amis du Brussels Air Museum from Belgium; the Norwegian Aviation Museum, the Yugoslav Air Museum, the Deutches Technikmuseum Berlin and Illmailu-museoyhdistys/Av.Mus. Society and Hallinportti Aviation Museum from Finland.

Various topics were discussed at the conference, which was hosted by Countess Maria Fede Caproni and Dr Michele Lanzinger of the Museo Gianni Caproni,.

The main subject was volunteer participation in museum restoration projects, and a proposed award scheme for outstanding restoration projects.

The participants were also taken to various historical places along the Trento

valley, which was the site of fierce battles between the Italians and Austrians during World War 1.
