After a debate on the Social Security Act, the OHSA noted much was said about workers being responsible for any accidents that occur if they failed to follow the health and safety

regulations.

Although it was said that these workers would not be eligible for compensation, not enough importance was given to the responsibility of the employer in situations such as these.

The Occupational Health and Safety Authority Act that came into force three years ago clearly states that the employer carries the most responsibility for his

workers’ health and safety in the workplace.

The OHSA said it would like to carry out more on-site inspections, as was suggested in parliament. However, this is not possible at the moment due to its limited resources. In spite of this, the OHSA guaranteed that it will continue to do its best and carry out its duties in the most efficient and effective manner.
