During the meeting which was held yesterday morning, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between Spain and Malta, peace prospects in the Middle East, especially following the re-election of George W. Bush as American President, and the recent developments in Palestine. Both sides also discussed Libya and the need for a reform within the United Nations.
In a separate meeting, Mr Brincat met representatives of the Polisario Movement who are currently attending a conference in Malta. They spoke about the Council of Europe’s decision on the de-colonisation of the western region of the Sahara and the United Nations’ resolution on the subject.
