Prime Minister Robert Abela said the government has agreed for Parliament to be convened urgently to discuss the aftermath of the Yorgen Fenech trial, but said he hoped the debate will be carried out within certain parameters that will not prejudice any future judicial proceedings.

Abela said that the debate will be held on Friday.

Abela is addressing a press conference in what is his first reaction following the acquittal of Fenech on charges related to the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Earlier today, Opposition Leader Alex Borg formally presented a request for Parliament to reconvene before its scheduled 5 October return from the summer recess.
