The court, presided over by Magistrate Anthony Vella, declared there was no doubt the man did indeed cut the trees down.
The removal of a tree that is more than 10 years old carries a fine between Lm200 and Lm10,000.
In light of this, Sapiano was convicted and fined Lm6,500 for cutting down the 13 trees.
