A spokesperson from Maltapost said "Early posting is recommended since the volumes of mail have become less predictable than in the past, particularly when it comes to outgoing and incoming mail from abroad. In recent weeks Maltapost has received reports of delays in various airports abroad concerning mail to and from some European countries, Australia and North America.

“As these delays are outside Maltapost’s control and will probably worsen in the coming weeks, we are urging customers to plan ahead and mail early this Christmas.”
