MLP Slams government’s plans on elderly

He added that a few weeks ago in parliament, government exponents said the government was planning to withhold pensions according to the elderly person’s medical requirements. However, according to a parliamentary question, it seems that all the elderly are being placed in one basket.

Dr Chircop also spoke about how the PN government reduced social benefits by 28 per cent, from Lm21 million in 1997 to Lm15 million this year. He said that even though the government was using the excuse of abuse, most of this decrease has not been justified.
