Dr Gatt pointed out that Medserv is a success story in both local and foreign markets. Although the company was in difficulty in the beginning, the faith in the long-term vision of the company’s success turned out to be justified. Medserv provides total logistic solutions to oil and gas companies in the Mediterranean and surrounding countries.
Medserv was privatised in May 1997 and since then over E4 million were invested, with a turnover of E20 million Dr Gatt said. These figures do not take into consideration the money generated from spin-offs from hotel bookings, airline tickets and so on.
“This investment rendered due to our capability to see an opportunity with a global approach,” Dr Gatt said. Medserv “shows that we have to participate in an industry where we can be competitive”. Malta has to attract services and industries which can make use of Malta’s services.
“Medserv is a result of having faith in ourselves and in our industry,” Dr Gatt concluded.
