He was also accused of resisting arrest at Zejtun police station, damaging a police officer’s uniform, breaching the peace and using obscene language in public.
He was also accused of causing between Lm50 and Lm500 worth of damage to a Toyota Cynos and relapsing in view of previous convictions.
The court, presided over by magistrate Jacqueline Padovani Grima, set bail against a personal guarantee of Lm1,000 but also ordered the accused to enrol in an alcohol dependency rehabilitation programme.
Police inspector Joseph Agius prosecuted while Dr Franco Debono appeared for the defence.
