She was taken to hospital.
The accused is Carmen Spiteri, who is temporarily living in a car after her house was declared uninhabitable. She was charged with drug possession and of trafficking cocaine and cannabis as well as relapsing. She was denied bail and remanded in custody.
Later on yesterday, the police arraigned Darren Spiteri, Carmen Spiteri’s son, 18, from Valletta, Patricia Camilleri, 31, Mary Rose Spiteri, 60, Brenda Mallia, 34, and Rose Mary Camilleri, 21, all from Valletta and charged them with the attack on WPC Bugeja. They were granted bail on a personal guarantee of Lm300. Dr Roberto Montalto appeared for the five accused, while the defence of Carmen Spiteri is in the hands of Dr Jose Herrera and Dr Roberto Montalto.
