A second blunder by goalie Elvin Attard in added injury time proved costly for Marsa yesterday as they stumbled to a 3-2 defeat to Balzan Youths.

Marsa had taken the lead on 30 minutes through Darren Vella, but Stefan Farrugia equalised for Balzan before the interval.

Anthony Eviparker put Marsa ahead on 53 minutes, but a splendid Gilbert Scerri goal from a freekick put Balzan back on level terms. Then came the goalie’s blunder on a long distance shot from Pierre Grima – he fumbled the ball which appeared very easy to save.
