Jose Mourinho Named coach of ideal 2004 team by L’Equipe

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho (above) has rounded off a successful year by being named coach of an ‘ideal team for 2004’ by French newspaper L’Equipe.

He has been named as coach of a fantasy XI after winning the Champions League and domestic title at old club Porto, while Chelsea now top the Premiership.

And Chelsea’s John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho were included in the 2004 XI.

Deco and Maniche, who played under Mourinho at Porto, were also selected, with Andriy Shevchenko and Ronaldinho.

The French paper’s European team of the year 2004:

Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus and Italy); Cafu (Milan and Brazil), Ricardo Carvalho (Chelsea and Portugal), John Terry (Chelsea and England), Gianluca Zambrotta (Juventus and Italy); Deco (Barcelona and Portugal), Maniche (Porto and Portugal), Theo Zagorakis (Bologna and Greece), Ronaldinho (Barcelona and Brazil); Andriy Shevchenko (Milan and Ukraine), Adriano (Inter Milan and Brazil).
