The first edition of the HSBC World Team Challenge, played at the Royal Malta Golf Club (RMGC) over five weeks, has been won by a Malta team consisting of Danny Saliba, Alfred Zammit, Charles Sullivan and Joe Sullivan.

The launch of this new golfing competition followed the sponsorship presented by HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c. to the Royal Malta Golf Club primarily aimed at assisting the RMGC in meeting the expense of rebuilding the club’s entrance.

The HSBC World Team Challenge was scored using an aggregate stableford format with 3/4 handicap allowance.

The winning team racked up a total of 450 points with the runner up team, also representing Malta and consisting of Ian Restall, Louis Sansone, Norman Spiteri and Edward Sullivan finishing a close second with 441 points overall.

The winning teams were presented with their prizes by HSBC’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Shaun Wallis who, apart from the prizes awarded to the winners and runners up, also presented awards to the highest individual scorers.

These were Vincent Curmi with 47 points, Charles Sullivan with 46, Peter Satariano with 42, Chris Bergedhal with 42 and Joe Sullivan with 40.

The highest aggregate score for the competition was Ian Restall who scored a total of 187 points.
