The Maltese Council for Sport has recently announced the approval of four key posts within its organisation.
Stephen Mercieca MBA is managing the Cottonera Sports Complex where he will be handling the overall administration and management of the complex, developing new business sectors to increase utilisation of the complex and aiming to attract sports associations to establish their headquarters within.
He is also Director of Human Resources where he heads the overall administration of all Council staff and is setting up all HR procedures, formulating Standard Operating Procedures and other documentation.
George Whelpdale AMIAP has been appointed Facility Manager of the National Pool Complex in tal-Qroqq. His duties include the general day-to-day administration of the complex, customer and member liaison, and the promotion of the complex to local and international associations.
Noel Galea CPA is the Finance Manager. Overall accounting procedures, management and administration of the accounts department as well as provision of analysis and recommendations of the Council’s financial aspect all fall under his remit.
Mona Farrugia B Communications (Hons) is Head Marketing and Communications. She will be co-ordinating all media contact of the Council for Sport and its properties, communication and agency promotion processes as well as taking up new marketing efforts.
All posts report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, Joe Cassar.
The Maltese Council for Sport was set up in -----2003 after the enactment of the Sports Law in 2002 and is the administrative body for sports in Malta. It falls under the Ministry for Education, Youth and Employment.
