Chris Oretan Arrives to join Valletta

Malta Independent Monday, 10 January 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Nigerian striker Chris Oretan arrived in Malta yesterday and he is set to rejoin his former club Valletta, at least till the end of this season.

Oretan had been one of City’s most lethal strikers in the last 10 years after joining them from Naxxar Lions.

He had left Malta before the start of last season after failing to reach agreement over a new deal with the citizens.

He had been playing in Germany since last summer.

Oretan is expected to have a trial tomorrow against visiting Dutch first division side Willem II Tilburg in a friendly match at the Hibs Ground, which is to start at 6.30pm. And if he passes a medical test, he would be expected to sign for the citizens on Wednesday.

If the move materialises, Oretan is expected to make his debut for Valletta in this year’s Premier League next Saturday in the important clash against Marsaxlokk, where he will partner Gilbert Agius, who should also be back in the City side after missing the 5-0 win over St Patrick through injury.
