Hamrun went temporarily to the top of the table yesterday as they disposed of Footwork and gained their sixth league win in seven games. Hamrun lead Pembroke by a point but the latter have a game in hand.

Hamrun had Alan Borg still suspended and Jide Jetson was missing, but they recovered Adrian Sultana after he had missed a number of matches.

Footwork had Anthony Huizer absent.

They had an early 7-5 lead but Liberty then were all over their opponents and an 11-0 run followed up by a quick 13-0 break left Footwork sprawling.

After the first session, Hamrun led 31-12.

In the second quarter Albert Spiteri was rested with his three fouls but Hamrun were still in command and extended their lead going on to 44-18.

Footwork, at least, recovered and led by Louis Camilleri, they found a regular way to the basket as Liberty were hit by an adverse 9-0 run. But they were still leading 52-34 at the interval.

After the break, Hamrun opened up strongly with an 8-2 break. At the end, they were leading 72-53.

In the final session, after Omar Said and Steve Sammut were sent off following a scuffle, the tempo picked up again and points remained plentiful and Ian Terribile put in two treys for Hamrun as they coasted through and did the double over Footwork.
