Two More Premier League matches at Hamrun today

Malta Independent Sunday, 16 January 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Another two matches are being played today at the Victor Tedesco Stadium in Hamrun.

At 1pm, bottom clubs Lija and St Patrick face each other in what should be an interesting clash, while in the match that follows, at 3pm, Valletta take on Marsaxlokk.

The citizens will certainly be looking forward towards winning another three points to regain sole leadership. At present, they have 32 points and lead the standings together with Sliema.

But Marsaxlokk will not be an easy nut to crack. Even if they will have Ivan Zammit suspended, the southern seasiders will be expected to offer some serious resistance in the hope of returning to winning form, to remain in contention for a place among the top six in the second phase of the competition.

In the other match, St Patrick will be looking forward towards obtaining their first victory this season, but Lija will not be staring at them either. In fact, this is their last remote chance to kept their fight for a top six place alive.
