Floriana, Pieta And Msida in search of precious points

Malta Independent Sunday, 23 January 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Three clubs - Floriana, Pieta and Msida - will be searching for precious points today when they will be in action at the Hibs Ground.

Msida will have the best chance to grab three points as they face bottom placed St Patrick while Floriana and Pieta face each other in a direct clash.

Msida will have goalie Omar Borg, A. Farrugia and Boni suspended and their absence will certainly be felt today.

The Saints, on their part, are still very enthusiastic after having scored their first seasonal win against Lija last week. They are now hoping to repeat the dose against the depleted Saints.

The other match will certainly be keenly contested. On one hand, the Greens are aware that a victory almost certainly will put them in the Championship Pool and will therefore be going all out to get the points.

But Pieta will also be searching for the points themselves. In fact, after Marsaxlokk's expected win yesterday and with the first match involving Msida today, they could be in eighth position by 3pm this afternoon, meaning that they will have to win to retain their present placing.

The First Division League will reach the half way mark this morning when the last two matches will be played at The Victor Tedesco Stadium in Hamrun.

The home side will start as favourite against Naxxar in the first match, whilst high riding Mosta will try to keep on the wining track when they meet San Gwann, who are now amongst the front runners
