Valletta made an important capture yesterday when they signed Serbian defender Branko Nisevic from Pieta Hotspurs.

The citizens swooped for the player when it became known he had become available after his contract had been terminated by Pieta following an amicable agreement between the two sides.

Pieta president Edward Schembri confirmed that Nisevic’s contract had been terminated and added that the former Hibs defender had agreed with Valletta to play for them, at least till the end of the season.

Valletta have now been strengthened considerably in the past few days with the signing of Nigerian striker Chris Oretan, former Pieta and Under 21 striker Anatole Debono, and now Branko Nisevic, also from Pieta.

They are all expected to be included in the side which will be facing Birkirkara tomorrow afternoon.

Meanwhile Valletta yesterday announced that the No. 12 jersey will never be used again by the club. It is being presented to the Supporters Club tomorrow before the match against the Stripes as they consider the fans as their 12th man.
