New Sounds at the Manoel Theatre

BAWAG Malta Bank has entered into a cooperation agreement with the Manoel Theatre for the donation of a Boesendorfer grand piano which was brought over to Malta a few months ago for a piano concert organised on the occasion of the bank’s first anniversary in Malta.

“The presentation of the Boesendorfer grand piano to the Manoel Theatre symbolises the philosophy of BAWAG Bank to actively participate and sustain culture in Malta and, following the success of previous initiatives, the bank will continue to be alert to any developments in the cultural sphere,” said BAWAG Malta Bank chairman Francis Vassallo.

Following the successful event and the concert at the Manoel Theatre by renowned Austrian pianist Paul Gulda, BAWAG Malta Bank was approached by various different parties to consider the possibility of leaving in Malta this extraordinary piano for the use of local and foreign artists, who would be performing here.

The piano would also enhance the sound and resonance of these high-calibre performances at the Manoel Theatre.

BAWAG Malta Bank agreed to this request and worked towards raising a few more sponsorships in order to fill the gap in the funds necessary to cover to whole cost of the operation.

Assistance was secured through the Vodafone Malta Foundation which contributed a substantial sum towards the costs.

“Since the creation of the Vodafone Malta Foundation, we have managed to help a number of organisations involved in a vast range of social projects. The foundation is now pleased to be able to contribute towards the acquirement of this prestigious piano which will surely delight all patrons of the Manoel Theatre,” said Vodafone Malta Foundation chairwoman Gemma Mifsud Bonnici.

Malta International Airport and Grech Co. Ltd have also sponsored the initiative.
