Bottom- placed Rabat played their best game of the season giving the Greens a good run for their money.

Both teams shared the early exchanges.

Floriana opened the score on 24 minutes. Luke Agius served Andre Spiteri with a short corner kick and the latter netted with a hand grounder from the edge of the area.

Few were the actions worthy of note in the second period.

Greens’ keeper Micallef saved in two attempts a free kick shot by Azzopardi and Schembri saved a Galea free kick.

Qormi 2

Hamrun S 3

This was a very keen game in which the Spartans dominated the first period with Qormi doing likewise in the second.

In the 5th minute Hamrun opened the score through Refalo after a Nead Mifsud through pass. Mifsud then put Abela through but Cilia saved his feeble shot.

Hamrun doubled the score on 25 minutes again through Refalo who finished a perfect through pass by Abela, and scored a third goal six minutes later as Caruana’s flag kick was headed in by Matthew DeGabriele.

On 49 minutes Qormi pulled one back. Debono put Vella through in the Spartans area where he was tripped and Gary Parnis converted the resultant penalty.

On 58 minutes Qormi scored a second goal; Debono put Keith Camilleri through on the left flank that gave Zammit Cordina no chance with a rising shot .
