Young Adam Debattista, a Valletta Under 16 player and a goalkeeper who attends the Mario Muscat Goalkeepers’ School, will tomorrow go on a one-week trial with Southamption.

Adam, still 15 years old, will have to contend with another goalkeeper from Sweden for the post with the Southampton youths.

It is the first time that the Mario Muscat Goalkeepers’ School, set up two years ago, will be sending one of its goalkeepers abroad. Muscat, who plays for Hibernians, said that he has made other contacts abroad and there is a possibility of sending more young goalkeepers on trials with foreign teams.

He said that the school is giving so many young goalkeepers the chance to train hard to improve their talents and skills. “I want to give them what I did not have when I was their age,” he said.
