APS Bank Under 16 Section C

Pembroke A 0

Msida 2

Section winners Msida maintained their unbeaten run without setting any houses on fire. Pembroke had more of the exchanges after the resumption but they lacked punch in their front line.

Jonathan Debattista crossed to Dean Hili but his shot missed Msida's upright. At the other end, Dexter Vassallo put Kersten Brincat through but Pembroke keeper Duncan Calleja foiled him with a timely sortie. Andy Aloisio hit the side-netting after a Vassallo through ball and Roderick Hili served Brincat with a long throw-in, but Calleja turned his shot to a corner.

On 20 minutes Msida opened the score. From a well-taken flagkick by Matthew Borda, Vassallo headed in.

Ryan Buhagiar crossed to Jonathan Debattista but his shot was cleared by an Msida defender. Five minutes before halftime Zammit should have doubled for Msida but he skied the ball with only Calleja to beat after a Mark Schembri cross.

Msida keeper Daniel Borda had to dive and score to corner a shot by Yakinov Galdev after a Ryan Buhagiar cross. A freekick by Dean Hili missed Msida's bar by inches and Borda saved a shot by Luke Caruana.

Jean P. Zammit crossed to Christian Pace but he drove over Pembroke's bar.

Msida doubled on 67 minutes through substitute Christian Pace who pounced on a faulty clearance after the ball was partially cleared after a Vassallo cross.

Marsaxlokk 1

Kirkop U 1

A keen and action-packed game. Kirkop had more of the exchanges in the first period with the south seasiders having more exchanges in the second.

Kirkop took an early third minute lead. Michael Theuma put Daniel Scicluna through. The latter was fouled outside the area and Shaun Saliba netted from the resultant freekick. Marsaxlokk keeper Luca Bugeja saved on Theuma after a Scicluna square pass.

Kirkop keeper Paulseph Cutajar saved a freekick by Steve Scicluna after Daniele Sapiano had handled the ball. Scicluna then missed Marsaxlokk's upright after a Saliba through ball.

At the other end, Cutajar foiled Melchior Vella with a timely sortie after an Amadeo Mercieca through pass. Then he saved in two attempts a shot by Vella after a Giulio Farrugia through pass and Lennox Panzavecchia drove over the bar after a Russel Tabone cross.

Panzavecchia crossed to Tabone but he drove over Kirkop's bar and Cutajar foiled Mercieca with a timely sortie after a Steve Scicluna cross.

At the other end, Theuma missed Marsaxlokk's bar by inches after beating two defenders, and Scicluna did likewise after a Gary Muscat through pass.

Just before the final whistle, Marsaxlokk obtained the equaliser: from a Tristan Agius freekick shot, the ball was partially cleared and Tabone was on hand to score from the rebound.
