Jimmy Briffa Resigns as Balzan coach

Malta Independent Wednesday, 23 February 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Jimmy Briffa has resigned as Balzan Youths coach.

During a meeting held last Monday between Briffa and the executive committee of the club, following an agreement between the two parties, it was decided that Briffa should terminate his relationship with the Balzan team.

In a statement issued yesterday, Briffa said he wanted it to be known that at no stage during this particularly delicate and difficult period for the team did he wish to tender his resignation, as it is not in his character to lay arms. He added: “Having said this, however, in order to act professionally till the end, in the interest of the team, I decided to accede to the committee’s request in this regard.”

Briffa took the opportunity to wish the team success in the battle against relegation in line with his efforts towards that end.
