Rabat D 6

Zebbug R 0

The final result clearly indicates that Rabat were the better side. Zebbug managed only one shot at goal and this came from a freekick.

On 18 minutes later Rabat commenced their rout through Brincat from a freekick after Ciantar was fouled outside the area.

Brincat doubled on 22 minutes with a hard grounder after controlling a loose ball in Zebbug's area.

On 32 minutes Borg turned to corner a shot by Brincat after a Ciantar through ball and from the latter's flagkick, the ball, helped by the wind finished at the back of the net, and two minutes before the break Eman Zahra scored no. 4 with a first-timer after a Luke Portelli corner kick.

A minute after the restart Ciantar obtained a personal brace and Rabat's fifth goal after a Joseph Azzopardi square pass. Rabat keeper Joseph Agius, who had an easy Sunday morning, saved in two attempts a freekick by Christian Cassar.

The Magpies resumed their pressure and on 55 minutes Ciantar drove over the bar by a whisker after a Brincat through ball. Martin Scicluna then made it 6-0 on 58 minutes after being put through by Ian Zerafa.

Referee: Pierre Bonnici.

Player of the match: Shaun Brincat (Rabat D).

Paola H 8

Naxxar L 0

This match turned out to be a training session for Paola H against a depleted Naxxar side who had five regulars missing through suspension.

The Paolities took an early sixth minute lead through Samuel Cassar after being put through by Luka Desira Buttigieg, and three minutes later Gary Inguanez made it 2-0 after a Clayton Zammit through pass.

It became 3-0 on 19 minutes through Christian Azzopardi who finished an Inguanez cross, four minutes later Zammit scored No. 4 direct from a freekick.

Samuel Cassar scored a fifth goal on 26 minutes after an Inguanez cross and just before the break a shot by Cassar was cleared to corner by a Naxxar defender.

Farrugia put Matthew Pisani through who netted no. 6 with a low shot in/off the base of the upright. Cassar then put Desira Buttigieg through and Vella saved his rising shot to corner with a spectacular save.

On 68 minutes, Vella partially saved a shot by Inguanez and Cassar applied the killer touch from the rebound to make it 7-.

Hardly two minutes later Inguanez won a loose ball in Naxxar's half and netted with a low shot after entering the area unhindered to make it 8-0.
