Pembroke’s seventh win of the season against Siggiewi was expected. They didn’t play at the top of their ability but it was enough as Siggiewi gamely battled on against superior opposition.

Pembroke had Michael Naudi still injured from last Sunday’s win over Luxol and Trevor Degiorgio was also missing. Both sides had treys at the start of the match, but Pembroke continued with theirs, in a 12-2 run. Siggiewi’s reply didn’t produce the results and they fell further behind, on a 13-25 score.

Pembroke kept on pressing in the second session, as they kept on pulling away form Siggiewi, till they had reached a 39-19 score, then they put in their subs, but their shooting took a nosedive and Siggiewi picked themselves up. An 11-0 run made it a close game, and at the interval it was Pembroke, at 41-30.

After the break Pembroke turned on the heat as Siggiewi wilted beneath the pressure. An 8-2 run started them off and this was followed by an 11-0 break. Siggiewi replied as best they could but Pembroke were in full cry and they were fully 70-39 ahead after three sessions.

The last quarter was a quieter affair. Pembroke still found space to increase their lead and in the latter part of the session they put in two treys, as they managed a 12-2 run. Jeffrey Gatt made personal points at the end as Pembroke momentarily went alone to the top of the standings.
