This was quite a competitive game as Mellieha were fighting to evade the bottom slot, but Mosta just edged through to justify their third placing.

It was a balanced game from the start as Mellieha came from behind only to see Mosta finish ahead of them in the first session. The second quarter was livelier as Mosta obtained a 20-11 lead but Mellieha rallied in the latter stages to draw level twice, but it was Mosta just in front, at 29-27 at the interval.

After the break Mellieha grabbed the lead, but were hit by a strong 13-0 run, as Mosta progressed to a 46-34 lead. Mellieha recovered and at the end of the session were 45-49 in arrears.

In the last quarter Mellieha were in front twice on minimal leads, but Mosta obtained an Oliver Sammut trey, and it was enough to just hang on as Mellieha frantically tried to obtain the necessary basket to evade defeat, but it was to no avail. Melleiha: 17 Joshua Muscat

It was surprisingly easy for league leaders, Qormi, as they made it five out of five against Suns this season.

They couldn't have hoped for a better start, as they left Suns pointless in the first session, thus facilitating matters for the rest of the game.

There was no recovery for Suns in the second quarter, as Qormi made an 11-0 run till the interval, to lead by a massive 37-3 score.

After the break Suns could come more into the scheme of things, as Qormi started to slacken off, and make the scoreline take on a more realistic touch, but Qormi still had their lead to fall on.

The last quarter saw Qormi back to their expected form, although Suns proved to be more creditable opponents.

The result was beyond question as Qormi ambled through to consolidate their top spot.
